Million Flowers F l a v i o P o l i, Artistic Director from 1934-1966 technical work of Master Glasblower Angelo Seguso in 1950 Provenance: Collection of Maurizio Albarelli, Direktor and owner of Seguso Vetri d‘Arte (1976-1992), presented in his house, Island of Sant Erasmo Venice. Important and monumental unique chandelier. Elongated, double-walled oval,consisting of a double sided, open framework, onto which various flower motifs made of glass are screwed. The exterior consists of colorless, the interior of pink, pinched glass with gold leaf enclaves. Multiple light bulbs. Dimension H 125 cm x 60 cm. Marc Heiremans provides his photograph from the presentation of this chandelier from 1958, for the XXIX Biennale, dedicated to illumination. Original certification by the owner of Vetri Seguso, Mr Alberelli accompanied the lot. Published: Arti Decorative page 191 Provenance: 1958 - 1963 Flavio Poli 1963 - 1976 Vetri Seguso 1976 - 2006 Maurizio Albarelli,owner and director of Vetri Seguso Lucio Fontana and his manifestos from his "Movimento spaziale", in which he added the third dimension to two dimensional art using perforations, are unmistakably a main source of inspiration. He adds the further development "Concetto spaziale" and its variations in so-called "Bucchi" (indentations) through colored glass. The thus increased light effect augments the spatial impact. Flavio Poli´s trick to achieve the epitome of highest glass art for the Biennial of 1958 reminds one of the fascinations of a Farbergé egg.
